Bridgewater, NJ - The Sugar Land Skeeters (20-25, 56-59) defeated the Somerset Patriots (24-21, 74-41) 9-2 Tuesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. All nine Sugar Land runs occurred with two outs.
In the top of the first inning catcher Chris Wallace drilled a two run home run (15) to give Sugar Land a 2-0 advantage.
Catcher Adam Donachie pounded a game tying two RBI double in the bottom of the third inning to even the score at 2-2.
The Skeeters scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to grab a 6-2 lead. Second baseman Jeff Dominguez ripped a RBI single, pitcher Lucas Irvine hurled a wild pitch to plate a run, and first baseman Travis Scott crushed a two run home run (5).
Sugar Land scratched across three more runs in the top of the ninth inning to expand its lead to 9-2. Wallace, left fielder Johan Limonta and right fielder Kevin Russo all tallied RBI doubles.
Roy Merritt earned the win (7-5) tossing six innings while scattering two runs on four hits. Irvine suffered his third straight loss (6-8) lasting six innings while giving up six runs on nine hits.
