Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

(Camden NJ August 24th 2015)---RHP Shaun Garceau made his second start since returning from the Mexican League and threw seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits to lead Southern Maryland to a 5-3 victory.

Camden got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning on Joel Guzman's solo homerun. In the bottom of the third, Zach MacPhee and Michael Rockett both singled to put two runners on base. With Brandon Chaves at the plate, Garceau uncorked a wild pitch to score MacPhee to bring the score to 2-0.

Southern Maryland's offense came alive in the top of the fourth. With one out Jovan Rosa doubled, followed by a Bryant Nelson and Jamar Walton single to load the bases. Two batter later Keith Castillo walked to the plate and drove a grand slam over the wall for his second homerun of as a Blue Crab to make it 4-2 Southern Maryland. Camden would add one more run in the bottom of the inning on a Daniel Rockett homerun to make it a one run game.

Garceau would take control though, and sit down nine of the next hitters he would face. The Blue Crabs would also add a run in the top of the eighth on a Castilllo single to score Frawley to make it 5-3 and send the Blue Crabs to victory by that score.

Southern Maryland out-hit the Riversharks 10-7. Tonight's win was the 12 against Camden this season. Game two of the series will take place tomorrow evening at 7:05 P.M.
