Camden Bangs out 14 Hits to Send Sharks to Victory

(Camden NJ, August 25th 2015)---Camden RHP Daniel Herrera threw a solid six innings, allowing just five hits as the Riversharks took game two of the three game series by the final of 6-2.

Camden got on the board first when Daniel Rockett drove a homerun over the wall in left to make it 2-0 Riversharks. In the bottom of the fifth, Brandon Chaves and Carlos Guzman both singled to put two runners on base. The next hitter Joel Guzman banged a single to left to score Chaves to make it 3-0.

After Antone DeJesus scored on a Zach Wilson single in the top of the seventh, Camden scored three runs in the bottom of the frame. Paddy Matera led off with a single, followed by a Carlos Guzman walk, and a Joel Guzman to center to score Matera to make it 4-1. Three batters later, with the bases loaded, Eric Frain was hit by a pitch to force in Guzman from third to score to make it 5-1. The next hitter Zach MacPhee drove a sacrifice fly to center to score Joel Guzman to bring the score to 6-1.

Southern Maryland added a run in the ninth inning, but left 14 runners on base in the game. RHP Brian Grening went six innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits. Chris Bodishbaugh struggled out of the bullpen, going an inning, three runs on two hits. Offensively for Camden, the combination of Paddy Matera, Carlos, and Joel Guzman went 8-14 with two runs batted in.

The rubber matchup of the series will take place tomorrow in Camden at 7:05 P.M. RHP Wes Torrez (5-6, 4.33) will toss for Camden, while Southern Maryland will start LHP Brian Burres (6-8, 4.47). The Blue Crabs are looking to win their first series since August 3rd.
