SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters snapped a seven-game losing streak and extended their home winning streak to 10 games after a 2-1 win over Long Island in front of 3,602 fans at Constellation Field. The Skeeters handed the Ducks just their second loss in the month of June while improving to 29-30 on the season.

The Skeeters were firing on the Ducks early in the game and struck for an early run in the bottom of the second. Chris Wallace launched a one-out solo shot to left field, staking Sugar Land to a 1-0 lead on his sixth home run of the season.

Sugar Land tacked on an additional run in the fourth. Kevin Russo doubled off the wall in left to kick off the inning. Delwyn Young roped a ball that caromed off Jon Griffin's glove at first, moving Russo to third. Travis Scott lifted a fly ball to right and was robbed of a base hit on a diving catch by Bryan Sabatella, but Russo was able to tag and score to give the Skeeters a 2-0 lead.

Josh Geer turned in a spectacular start in his outing. The former San Diego Padre went 6.0 innings and scattered seven hits while striking out seven in the winning effort. He recorded his third quality start this season in seven outings with the Skeeters.

Ramon Delgado and Derrick Loop combined for two shutout innings out of the bullpen before handing the game off to John Lujan in the top of the ninth.

After getting a fly out to center to open the inning, Reegie Corona and Dan Lyons hit back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners. Sabatella hit a slow roller to shortstop that the Skeeters were unable to turn into a double play, breaking up the shutout. Sabatella swiped second with two outs, but a groundout to short ended the contest, giving the Skeeters a 2-1 lead and Lujan his sixth save of the season.
