Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters had their five-game winning streak snapped with an 8-6 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Sunday afternoon at Constellation Field.

The five-game winning streak matched the second-longest for the Skeeters this season. Albuquerque jumped out to a 7-0 lead through the top of the sixth inning before the Skeeters began to come back.

The Skeeters got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single from CJ Hinojosa, who extended his hitting streak to 16 games. Hinojosa owns the longest active hitting streak in Triple A West and is one away from matching Jose Siri's 17-game hitting streak, which is a Skeeters season high. Hinojosa has hit .414 with a home run and 16 RBIs over the 16-game stretch. Marty Costes added a two-run single, and Taylor Jones followed with an RBI double to complete a four-run sixth inning.

Hinojosa tacked on another RBI single in the eighth inning and Jones provided an RBI groundout to cut the Isotopes lead to two. Justin Lawrence tossed two scoreless innings to finish out the game, picking up his 12th save of the season.

Albuquerque jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning off Skeeters starter Hunter Brown on a solo home run from Josh Fuentes and a two-run shot from Greg Bird. Brown picked up his first losing decision since being promoted to the Skeeters, allowing three runs on five hits, also striking out three batters, through three innings of work. Fuentes added a three-run shot in the sixth inning off left-hander Parker Mushinski. Elehuris Montero and Taylor Snyder also contributed solo home runs in the Isotopes wining effort.

Ryan Rolison got the start for Albuquerque and allowed four runs on five hits through 5 2/3 innings to take the win.

The Skeeters and Isotopes continue their six-game set at 7:05 p.m. on Monday at Constellation Field. JP France will take the mound for the Skeeters and will face off against right-hander Jose Mujica for the Isotopes.
