Skeeters Fall in Series Finale in El Paso

(EL PASO, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters dropped their series against the El Paso Chihuahuas with an 11-7 loss Tuesday night.

Jake Meyers homered for the seventh time in his last four games, a solo shot to give him a team-leading 13 home runs in the ninth inning. Jose Siri followed three batters later with his eighth homer of the year, giving him a home run in three straight games.

The Skeeters jumped out to a 4-3 lead on a two-run double from Bryan De La Cruz in the top of the fifth before El Paso carved out its lead. JJ Matijevic added a solo home run in the seventh inning, his second since joining the Skeeters last Friday.

Patrick Kivlehan gave the Chihuahuas a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first before Michael Papierski added an RBI double in the second inning and Colton Shaver an RBI single in the fourth inning. Nick Tanielu collected an RBI single and Kivlehan added a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to put the Chihuahuas up.

Tucupita Marcano added on for El Paso with a two-run homer and Kivlehan continued his hot night with an RBI double in the seventh inning.

JP France made his Triple A debut for the Skeeters and allowed a run on three hits, striking out four, through three innings. Right-hander Jon Olczak took the loss after surrendering six runs (five earned) on six hits through two innings of relief. El Paso starter Caleb Boushley, also making his Triple A debut, garnered a winning decision after allowing four runs on nine hits through five innings.
