CAMDEN, N.J. - The Sugar Land offense snapped out of a cold spell, pounding out four extra-base hits, but came up short in a 14-6 shootout with Camden in front of 3,207 fans at Campbells Field in New Jersey. The loss drops Sugar Land to 7-11 in the second half and 43-45 overall.

The Skeeters offense started off hot in the top of the first. Denny Almonte knocked a leadoff single to start the game and stole second to move into scoring position. Following a wild pitch and a walk to Delwyn Young, Almonte came in to score on a fielder's choice off the bat of Chris Wallace, staking Sugar Land to an early 1-0 advantage.

Starter Josh Geer struggled through the early portion of the game, beginning in the bottom of the first. Daniel Rockett started the frame with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Paddy Matera drew a walk before a balk allowed both runners to move into scoring position with one out. Joel Guzman doubled home a pair, giving the Riversharks a 2-1 advantage.

Camden would add to its lead in the bottom of the second. Rockett and Brandon Chaves recorded back-to-back one out singles to put runners on the corners before Matera lifted a sacrifice fly to center to push the score to 3-1.

Sugar Land would work back to tie the game in the top of the third. Almonte blasted a ground-rule double to open the inning and newcomer Jeff Dominguez launched a two-run home run to tie the game at three.

The Riversharks would reclaim the lead, however, in the bottom of the fourth following three doubles in the inning. Michael Rockett doubled to open the inning and moved up to third on a groundout. Matera and Guzman each picked up two-out RBI doubles to take a 5-3 lead.

After Sugar Land chipped away a run on an RBI single from Amadeo Zazueta, Camden pushed across three runs of its own to increase the lead to 8-4 in the sixth. Chaves reached on an error and Matera drew a walk off reliever Derek Blacksher. Following a flyout, Joel Guzman doubled home a pair on a second error by Zazueta at short. Mike Costanzo hit a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring in the frame.

The Skeeters rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to trim the deficit to 8-6. Dominguez doubled to open the inning and came in to score on an RBI single from Young. Wallace singled before Camden elected to go to the bullpen. After back-to-back strikeouts, Patrick Palmeiro rifled a single to score Young and narrow the margin.

The Riversharks came a triple shy of the cycle in the bottom of the frame, starting the inning with a single, double and a home run to claim an 11-6 lead off Andrew Carpenter. A bases-loaded single from Ryan Strieby inflated the lead to 13-6 and chased Carpenter from the game. Robbie Weinhardt gave up an RBI single to Michael Rockett, giving the Riversharks a 14-6 lead.

The Skeeters bats went cold in the eighth and ninth, leading to the 14-6 loss to Camden.
