Skeeters Collect 3-2 Comeback Win over Albuquerque

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters held on for a 3-2 come-from-behind win Monday afternoon against the Albuquerque Isotopes at Constellation Field.

Jose Siri's two-run double down the right-field line gave the Skeeters the lead for good in the fifth inning. Siri pushed his RBI total to 31, which leads all of Minor League Baseball.

Kit Scheetz, Hector Velazquez and Ronel Blanco combined to go the final 3 2/3 innings in relief behind starter Brett Conine.

Conine picked up his fourth straight winning decision to open the season, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and striking out four through 5 1/3 innings. Blanco collected his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

Albuquerque scored the game's first run on an RBI double from Greg Bird in the first inning. Miguelangel Sierra tied the game in the second inning with an opposite-field double. Danny Edgeworth hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth before Siri gave the Skeeters the lead in the bottom half of the inning.

The Skeeters and Isotopes finish out their six-game set Tuesday night, with left-hander Ryan Hartman opposed by Albuquerque right-hander Ryan Castellani.
