Lancaster Stormers News Release

Prior to Tuesday afternoon, the Lancaster Barnstormers bullpen had a composite 1.64 ERA on the season. Then, it all went haywire.

Koby Clemens slugged a game-tying, three-run homer to cap a four-run ninth, and Dominic Ramos followed with a solo blast in the bottom of the 10th as the Sugar Land Skeeters shocked the Barnstormers, 7-6, at Constellation Field.

Sugar Land opened up a two-game lead over Lancaster in the Freedom Division race as the Barnstormers have dropped four of the last five and have fallen into third place.

Lancaster held a 6-2 lead entering the bottom of the ninth inning following Petey Paramore's two-out, two-run double in the top of the frame. Adam Godwin started the tying rally off Yoslan Herrera with a single to left. Godwin stole second, which was key to the inning as Dustin Martin followed with a crisp grounder to second. Steve Moss flared a single to left center to score one run, and Josh Pressley followed with a walk. Clemens then tied the game with his fourth home run of the year, a drive to left.

Derrick Loop (0-1) got the final two outs of the ninth but yielded the Ramos homer one out into the 10th.

Ryan Harvey gave the Barnstormers a quick 2-0 lead with a homer to left, his first of the season, in the second inning. The Lancaster right fielder doubled home another run, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Paramore, in the fourth for a 4-0 lead off ex-Barnstormer Matt Wright.

Sugar Land got one back off Dwayne Pollok on two singles and a sacrifice fly by Ramos in the fourth inning. Pollok allowed nine hits, all singles, in five innings but gave up just that one run while walking none and striking out five.

Ramos also singled home a run off Robert Hinton in the sixth.

Lancaster will send Jay Buente (1-1) to the mound on Wednesday morning against left-hander Jason Lane (1-0) in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. Brian Grening (0-0) will make a spot start in the nightcap against Scott Elarton (0-1). Games will begin at 12:05 and 8:05 EDT.

NOTES: Harvey went 2-for-3 with three RBI, his biggest day of the year...Blake Gailen extended his streak of reaching base successfully with an intentional walk in the 10th...Lancaster managed only five hits in the game and, at one point, had 16 batters in a row retired...Ramos also hit a walkoff home run in extra innings last year off Jeff Bennett.
