FC Dallas (11-3-6, 39 points) visits Sporting Kansas City (9-5-6, 33 points) in a battle of Western Conference powerhouse teams on Saturday, July 28 at Children's Mercy Park. This is the first of two MLS meetings between these clubs. The two teams meet again in Frisco in the Hall of Fame game on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Dallas lost to Sporting in Kansas City in a U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match on June 16, 2018.

On the Road
FC Dallas is 4-3-2 on the road in 2018. That's good enough for the second-highest winning percentage (.556) in MLS. Atlanta United is 6-2-2 on the road (.700). One of Atlanta's road losses came at the hands of FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on July 4, 2018.
Dallas Defense
FC Dallas' defense continues to be an area of strength. Dallas has allowed 11 goals at home and 12 on the road in 2018. FCD's 23 goals allowed is tied with Seattle for second in MLS behind the New York Red Bulls who have allowed just 19.

Against Sporting Kansas City
FC Dallas is 22-24-12 against Sporting Kansas City. Dallas is 8-15-7 on the road against the Western Conference foe. Since Sporting moved to Children's Mercy Park in 2011, FCD has not won in Kansas City since the first match there in the series, a 3-2 win on August 27, 2011. Dallas has posted two draws and five losses during that span, including a 2-0 loss to SKC at Children's Mercy Park on August 19, 2017.
About Sporting Kansas City
Sporting Kansas City hasn't played since losing to the Houston Dynamo in a U.S. Open quarterfinal match on July 18. SKC is winless in its last four MLS matches, most recently losing to the New York Red Bulls on July 14, 2018. Sporting is 6-1-3 at home this season.
