Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino downed the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in ten innings 3-1 on Thursday at LoanMart Field. The victory gave the Sixers their second consecutive win over the Quakes after dropping consecutive games and secured the 66ers' first series victory over Rancho Cucamonga in 2019; Inland Empire is now 6-16 vs the Dodgers' affiliate.

The Quakes (61-42, 20-15) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Marcus Chiu reached on a throwing error and eventually scored on Steve Berman's RBI single against Cooper Criswell. The Sixers got on the board to tie the game versus lefty Leo Crawford in the fifth when Orlando Martinez drilled double and scored on Franklin Torres RBI single. The game remained tied until the tenth when Devin Davis, who had earlier doubled, drove Quakes' righty Connor Strain's (0-4) offering into center scoring Torres (the extra inning automatic runner at second) for a 2-1 lead. The inning progressed and Strain's wild pitch brought home Mike Stefanic for an insurance run. Jorge Tavarez (1-2), who tossed a scoreless ninth, got two quick outs in the tenth but walked back-to-back batters to load the bases in the tenth. Inland Empire (39-65, 13-22) turned to southpaw Nate Bertness to face left-handed batting Dillon Paulson. Bertness (SV,2) got Paulson to pop out to left to end the game and earn his second save in as many days. JC Ramirez allowed one hit in two scoreless innings with no walks and three Ks in an injury rehab outing for the Angels.

The 66ers open a series at Lake Elsinore on Friday at 7:00 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com.
