Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino took a ninth-inning lead at Lake Elsinore on Wednesday when Jeremiah Jackson smacked a three-run homer for a 9-7 lead. The lead, however, did not hold up as the 66ers (3-4) could not record an out against the Storm (6-2) in the home half of the frame. Robert Hassell III drilled a no-out, three-run triple off IE reliever Kolton Ingram (0-1) sending the Storm to a walk-off 10-9 win.

The 66ers fell behind 2-0 in the first on back-to-back RBI doubles by Storm batters Jordy Barley and Jack Stronach. The inning had been prolonged by a Sixers' error, their first of a season-worst five on the night. Inland Empire bounced back in the second scoring four runs, three coming home on Elijah Greene's base-loaded triple. The game see-sawed back and forth as the Storm scored four runs in the fifth aided by four walks, two hit batsmen and an error for a 6-4 advantage. Inland Empire bounced back to tie the game in sixth Starlin Gill's two-out two-run triple to left on a 0-2 pitch. Lake Elsinore immediately answered with a go-ahead run in the sixth for a 7-6 lead. The game remained that way until the ninth when with one out Elijah Green notched and infield single and was balked to second by Storm righty Michel Miliano. Kyren Paris then walked and set up the three-run blast to left by Jackson. The round-tripper was Jackson's first with the 66ers and in Class-A baseball; he had tied an Adv-Rookie level Pioneer League season record with 23 homers for Orem in 2019. In the bottom of the ninth however, the Storm loaded the bags against IE southpaw Kolton Ingram and Hassell smoked a gapper to the wall in right-center scoring all three runners for a 10-9 Lake Elsinore win.

The series continues at Lake Elsinore on Thursday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live on 66ers.com.
