Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Wheeling, WV - The Johnstown Chiefs defeated the Wheeling Nailers by a score of 7-1 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia on Saturday.
After a scoreless first period, Wheeling broke the game open when Jordan Cameron fired a wrist shot past Chiefs goaltender Morgan Cey as he came in on a two-on-one break.
Bryan Nathe scored his second goal of the year, firing a wrist shot through traffic from the left point that beat Nailers' goaltender Andy Franck over the right pad.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 2-1 leaf just 40 seconds into the third period, when with the Chiefs on a two-man advantage, P.J. Atherton scored his second power-play goal in as many nights with a blast from the point.
Dmitri Tarabrin scored his first goal since returning to the Chiefs at the 3:12 mark of the third, hammering home a pass from Jean Desrochers. Brandon Elliott scored his sixth of the season at the 6:34 mark, tipping Atherton's point shot past Franck.
The Chiefs would add three more power-play goals, with Andre Deveaux scoring his third of the season at 13:13, Bryan Nathe scored his second of the game at 13:47, and Eric Przepiorka would seal the game with the Chiefs seventh goal and sixth power-play goal of the third period at 17:21.
