DAVOS, SUI - Stockton Thunder rookie goaltender Devan Dubnyk made 15 saves in a relief appearance of Canada goaltender Justin Pogge as Team Canada advanced to the Spengler Cup Tournament Final with a 5-2 victory over Germany (EHC Berlin) at Davos Ice Stadium in Davos, Switzerland.

Dubnyk relived Pogge in net at the halfway point of the first period, after Pogge received an ejection for his involvement in an altercation with Berlin forward Kelly Fairchild. Dubnyk, a selection to the National Conference for the 2007 RBK Hockey ECHL All-Star Game, allowed only one goal on 16 shots to help Canada to victory.

Canada, who is now 3-1 in the tournament, now awaits the winner of the Switzerland (Davos)/Russia (Khimik) matchup to decide who plays Canada in the final. The championship game will be held at 3:00 a.m. PT on Sunday, December 31 between Canada and Switzerland (Davos) or Sweden (Mora).

Dubnyk, a first round selection of the Edmonton Oilers (14th overall) in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft, was selected to Team Canada on December 18. Team Canada is coached by Pat Quinn.

The Thunder faces a rematch with the local rival Fresno Falcons tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is viewable for a $6 "pay-per-view" charge at www.stocktonthunder.com (courtesy of B2 Networks).

An ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, the Thunder drew 228,364 fans to Stockton Arena in its inaugural season, the ECHL's best attendance mark for 2005-06. Thunder season tickets, mini-plans, group tickets and individual tickets for the 2006-07 season are on sale now.
