OGDEN, UT - All good things come to an end.
Such was the story of the Ogden Raptors' winning streak. After taking two tight games with the Rocky Mountain Vibes, the Raptors came up nearly empty with runners in scoring position and dropped game three of their five-game home set, 7-2, to the visiting Vibes to end a season-high six-game winning streak.
While Ogden was leaving runners on base in all but two innings, the Vibes plated runs in three separate frames.
In the top of the second, Rocky Mountain started the scoring with a solo home run. A one-out walk and single then set up a three-run blast for a 4-0 lead.
The Raptors cut the lead in half in the third as Moises Perez reached on an error and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Justin Yurchak lined a single to left to score Perez, and Andy Pages' second double of the game plated Yurchak from first base.
Two more runs scored for the Vibes in the fifth on a single, double and double play, and they added one in the sixth on a double steal.
Ogden threatened multiple times in the final three innings. They put two on with one out in the seventh, got a leadoff hit in the eighth and loaded the bases in the ninth with one out, but all of those runners were left on base.
With the loss and Grand Junction's win over Orem, the Raptors' lead in the Pioneer League South division first-half race is down to four games over the Rockies with 17 to play.
Ogden and Rocky Mountain play game four of their five-game series Sunday afternoon at 4:00. The Raptors will be wearing their Hawaiian-themed jerseys for Aloha Sunday, so come to the game and join in by wearing your Hawaiian best!
