Sims, Martin Selected For D-League All Star Game
February 4, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
Iowa Wolves News Release
DES MOINES, IA, Feb. 4, 2008 - Iowa Energy center Courtney Sims and forward Cartier Martin have been selected to play in the 2009 NBA Development League All-Star Game Saturday, Feb. 14 in Phoenix. The game will be held on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas with tipoff at 2 p.m. local time.
Sims, who leads the D-League in rebounds and blocked shots, spent 10 days with the Phoenix Suns in January prior to returning to the Energy. Martin was signed by the Charlotte Bobcats last week, where he has played in 2 games, averaging 4.5 points per game. If either player is on an NBA roster on February 14th, they will be replaced in the All-Star Game by a replacement.
"This is a tremendous honor for both Courtney and Cartier," Energy head coach Nick Nurse said. "I would have liked to see us get three players on the team, but I'm very excited for Courtney and Cartier and we couldn't ask for better representatives of our franchise."
Nurse was selected to coach the Red Team at the All-Star Game based on the Energy having the league's best record through January 27th.
The NBA D-League will also host the second annual Dream Factory Friday Night, a skills competition similar to NBA All-Star Saturday Night, which will include a three-point shootout, a slam dunk contest, and a game of H.O.R.S.E. Dream Factory events will take place on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas beginning at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.
