February 4, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
Colorado 14ers News Release

- February 4, 2009 - The Colorado 14ers moved into a first place tie with the Austin Toros in the Southwest Division with a 121-119 win at the Broomfield Event Center Wednesday night. Colorado has now won seven of eight to improve to 17-7 on the season, while Austin's first loss in four games drops the Toros to 18-8 on the season.

Point guard Eddie Gill and D-League All-Star Josh Davis led the way for Colorado, with each player posting a double-double in the win. Gill had 18 points, five rebounds, and 12 assists while Davis posted 23 points and 11 boards in the win.

"They've got a tough team and every time we play them it's always a good game," said Gill. "This game was for first place, so it was a big game for us."

When Gill split a pair of free throws with 8.8 seconds remaining, Austin missed a Marcus Williams floater to tie, and then a Pops Mensah-Bonsu three pointer at the buzzer that would have given the Toros the win. The loss is only the second of the season on the road for the Austin.

After taking a 12 point first quarter lead, the 14ers could never pull away in what turned out to be a toe-to-toe battle for all four quarters. Austin shot 54% from the field, and 84% from the free throw line compared to Colorado's 53% effort from the stripe to stay close throughout. Mensah-Bonsu had a game-high 31 points for the Toros, while Marcus Williams added 30 with 13 rebounds and nine assists in the losing effort.

Both teams will now be off until Sunday, when Austin will travel to Rio Grande Valley and Colorado will visit the Bakersfield Jam.
