Simmons Shines in Career Night, 905 Fall Short in Osceola

Raptors 905 (10-17), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, fell in the first of two matches against the Osceola Magic (17-8) 116-120 Monday evening. The 905 were led by Kobi Simmons who put up a career-high 36 points, adding nine rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block. Orlando Magic two-way player Trevelin Queen led the Magic with 32 points, four rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals in the victory.

The Magic took control of the first quarter following the opening tip as they opened the game on a 13-5 run. Osceola continued to pour in the points, earning their largest lead of the game, 12, in the first quarter before holding onto a seven-point advantage going into the second. The 905 found their rhythm in the second quarter as a 17-6 run allowed them to take their first lead of the game. The visitors went on to outscore the home team 35-25 in the quarter, taking a one-point lead going into the break.

The 905 continued to build off their momentum in the third quarter, earning their largest lead of the game, 12. The Magic fought back, but the 905 outscored Osceola 30-23 in the third. Down eight to open the final frame, the Magic were able to string together stops and baskets to go on a 15-2 run and regain the lead midway through the fourth. The 905 mounted their comeback bid late in the fourth, but were stifled by Magic's defense, falling in Osceola.

The 905 received complementary scoring from Makur Maker who added a season-high 22 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. D.J Wilson paced the Magic with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and a steal in the match,

The two teams meet again Wednesday evening to close out their season series, tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
