Silvertips Tame Cougars for 5-2 Win at Home

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips handled the Prince George Cougars 5-2 Wednesday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Hudson Thornton gave the Prince George Cougars the lead in the first period, sending a wrist shot through the glove of Tyler Palmer for his seventh of the year.

Everett notched a powerplay goal just 29 seconds into play in the second period, as Julius Miettinen wired a wrister past Joshua Ravensbergen for his 10th of the season. Terik Parascak netted a goal at four-on-four to once more restore Prince George's lead at 1:39. The Silvertips equalized at 11:48, as a Julien Maze set up in front was capitalized on by Lukas Kaplan for his first career WHL goal.

A Beau Courtney deflection on a Teague Patton shot gave the Silvertips the lead at 16:24 heading into the second intermission.

The Tips extended their lead at 11:29 in the third period, as Hayden Smith redirected a Kaden Hammell shot for his third goal of the season and goals in consecutive games. A Teague Patton empty-netter sealed the 5-2 final at 19:18.

Tyler Palmer turned aside 25 of 27 in the win, his 12th. Patton finished with a goal and two assists.
