Everett Silvertips News Release

After facing early deficits of 1-0 and 2-1, the Everett Silvertips scored three unanswered goals to defeat the visiting Prince George Cougars at Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center on Friday, February 8th. Dan Gendur netted the game winner on a wristshot from the blueline early in the third period as the Silvertips snapped a five-game losing streak and moved to 3-0 in their four game season series against the Cougars.

Cougar defenseman Cody Hobbs started the scoring just 5:10 into the game as he wristed a shot from just inside the blueline on the right wing side of the ice, beating a screened Leland Irving for his second goal of the season. Everett tied it up roughly eight minutes later as Chris de la Lande fired a slapshot from the point that glanced off goaltender Real Cyr's glove and fell right in front of Shane Harper, who pulled it away from Cyr and roofed it by him for his twelfth goal of the season at 13:53. De la Lande and Vitaly Karamnov provided the assists.

Towards the end of a second period that saw lots of action in the neutral zone, Dana Tyrell was pulled down on a breakaway to necessitate the first penalty shot against the Silvertips this season. The left-handed Tyrell deked twice before lifting the puck high over Irving's stick side for his team-leading 22nd goal of the season at the 16:26 mark.

Everett responded in the waning moments of the second period as Kararmnov poked a loose puck past Cyr for his ninth goal of the season and first after missing five games with a shoulder injury. The goal, which came at the 18:59 mark of the second period, was assisted by Harper.

Everett took the lead for good on a power play after Patrik Magnusson was called for a holding call at 5:22 of the third. Just 26 seconds into the power play, Gendur took a feed from Beach and from just beyond the circles wristed one high past Cyr to put Everett up 3-2 at the 5:41 mark. It was Gendur's 23rd of the season as Beach and Jonathan Harty provided assists.

The 'Tips received some key insurance late in the period when Zach Hamill and Clayton Bauer executed a flawless give-and-go. Streaking up the right wing boards, Hamill passed the puck to Bauer, who one-touched it right back to Hamill. After his original shot was denied, Hamill's backhanded attempt off the rebound found the back of the net to put Everett up 4-2 at the 14:04 mark. In addition to Bauer's assist, Gendur also received an assist as he has now recorded eleven points in three games against his former team, along with a +8 rating.

Prince George pulled Cyr with over a minute to play but could not sustain any offensive pressure against Irving and the Silvertips.

Irving stopped 32 of 34 for Everett to win his 22nd of the season, while Cyr stopped 23 of 27.
