Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have officially inked first-round pick Mirco Dufour to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
"I'm very excited to be a part of the Silvertips," said Dufour. "I've heard a lot of great things about the city and the organization. I'm looking forward to meeting my future teammates and staff at camp this August."
Dufour, an '09-born center from Chestermere, AB, was selected 19th-overall in the 2024 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft on May 9. The 5-foot-7, 157-pound forward posted 21 goals and 21 assists for 42 points in 21 games played with Edge School U15 Prep, earning CSSHL Second-Team All-Star honors. He also contributed seven points in five playoff games en route to a berth in the CSSHL U15 Championship game.
"Mirco plays the game the way we like our forwards to play," commented assistant general manager Mike Fraser. "He's relentless, competes hard on pucks and is a quick and shifty skater. He can make plays and has shown the ability to put the puck in the net. He's a dynamic player who will look great in a Silvertips jersey."
Dufour logged 12 points in six games with Edge at the John Reid Bantam tournament in 2023-24. He also skated with Team Blue at the 2024 Alberta Cup, collecting three goals and one assist over five games played. He led the league with 31 goals in 27 games with Edge U15 Varsity in the 2022-23 season, while also earning the league's Most Sportsmanlike Player award.
Dufour will be eligible to appear in up to five WHL games as a 15-year-old in the 2024-25 season. Other recent first-round picks to have already made their debut for the Everett Silvertips include defenseman Brek Liske (10th-overall, 2023); center Caine Wilke (20th-overall, 2023); winger Julien Maze (20th-overall, 2022); and defenseman Tarin Smith (20th-overall, 2021).
Mirco Dufour is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL by signing a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
