
Silvertips Shut Out Thunderbirds, 7-0

Everett, WA - Kent Simpson earned his 3rd Career WHL shutout as the Everett Silvertips blanked the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-0 Friday night in front of 8,045 fans at Comcast Arena. Simpson stopped all 35 shots faced for his 13th win of the season. Cody Fowlie and Tyler Maxwell scored two goals each for the Silvertips. Clayton Cumiskey and Josh Birkholz had a goal and an assist each while Josh Winquist rounded out the scoring for the Silvertips. Parker Stanfield added two assists for Everett.
Maxwell got the scoring started for Everett at 10:24 of the first period. For Maxwell it was his team leading 30th goal of the season. A centering pass from Stanfield deflected off of Maxwell's skate and past Calvin Pickard for a 1-0 lead. Cumiskey gave the âTips a 2-0 lead at 12:10. A Beautiful move from Cumiskey off the back of the Seattle net to himself led the Everett forward to the near post before beating Pickard near side glove hand. Everett outshot Seattle 13-9 after 20 minutes of play.
Everett made the score 3-0 at 4:23 of the second period with Winquist's fifth of the year with a snap shot from the high slot. 10 seconds later Fowlie scored his first goal of the night to make the score 4-0 on a snap shot near post, short side.
Maxwell scored his 31st goal of the season at 3:25 to give Everett a 5-0 lead. Stanfield drove the puck deep into the Seattle zone before had a cross crease feed hit Maxwell near post. 55 seconds later Birkholz made the score 6-0 with his 12th of the year. Pickard was pulled in net in favor of Michael Salmon. Everett didn't let up as Fowlie scored his second of the game at 10:56 with a snap shot left circle to conclude scoring and give Everett a 7-0 victory.
This brings the âTips record to 19-23-3-4 with 45 points in 49 games played. Everett comes back home on Saturday night for a 7:05 pm start against the Prince George Cougars!
