
Wheat Kings earn a 4-3 win

Calgary, AB - Mark Stone broke a 3-3 tie just past the midway mark of the third period lifting the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen Friday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.
The game started all Hitmen as Calgary outshot Brandon 18-7 in the first period, but trailed 1-0 on Shayne Wiebe's goal in the final minute.
Calgary took an early 2-1 second period lead on back-to-back goals from Kris Foucault and Alex Roach only to see Brandon score back-to-back themselves to pull ahead 3-2 on markers from Rene Hunter and Matt MacKay.
Brooks Macek drew Calgary even at three before the end of the second period extending his point scoring streak to four games.
Brandon carried most of the play in the third period outshooting Calgary 16-4 leading to Stone's game winning goal.
The Hitmen are back in action tomorrow (Saturday) as they head to Red Deer to face the Rebels.
Calgary returns home Sunday to host the Prince Albert Raiders at 5:00pm.
Sunday is Wendy's / Hockey Calgary Novice Development Day. This is the third season that approximately 2,500 minor hockey players from all 16 Novice Associations in Calgary have adopted the nickname Hitmen and have worn Hitmen colors. All players and coaches have been invited to Sunday's game.
To mark the occasion there will be a ceremonial pre-game puck drop with co-captain of the 2010 WHL Champion Hitmen and former Calgary Minor Hockey player Ian Schultz.
