Spokane Chiefs News Release

The Spokane Chiefs scored three unanswered goals and came from a 3-2 deficit to hand the Chilliwack Bruins a 5-3 loss on Friday night in Spokane Arena. Steven Kuhn had one goal and two assists and the Chiefs went 2-8 on the power play in their second win this week. Spokane will welcome the Tri-City Americans, 5-2 winners over the Portland Winterhawks on Friday, to the Arena on Saturday night.

Spokane and Chilliwack traded goals in the first, a pair of power play goals by the Chiefs and a short handed and even strengthed goal by the Bruins. Steven Kuhn and Brenden Kichton scored for the Chiefs.

Chilliwack scored their final goal, a power play marker, just 36-seconds into the second to take a 3-2 lead. Spokane would score the next three, two of them in a 1:28 span in the second. Darren Kramer's wrist shot from the right wing at 5:32 would even the game and Matt Marantz's second goal in as many games was the eventual game winner.

Tyler Johnson scored his league leading 37th of the season at 9:13 of the third for the final score. He is now tied for the league lead in scoring and has a 16 game point scoring streak.

Spokane's win, coupled with the Portland loss, pulls the Chiefs within one point of first place in the Western Conference. Saturday night's game, Washington Army National Guard's Buck Night and CheerStix giveaway, begins at 7:00 and can be seen live on SWX.

The Chiefs were 3-4 on the penalty kill and outshot the Bruins 43-23. Mac Engel won his second straight start with 30 saves.

Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
