Silvertips Shut out Streak Continues as Americans Fall 3-0
March 25, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA - The Americans hit the road for their first away game of the season and matched up against the Everett Silvertips at Angel of the Winds Arena. Tri-City was looking for a rebound victory after being blanked by the undefeated Silvertips on Sunday. Unfortunately that wasn't in the cards tonight as the Americans were once again shut out by Everett.
Silvertips netminder, and Calgary Flames prospect, Dustin Wolf once again started in net. He has played all three games for the Silvertips this season and has yet to let in a goal.
However, tonight's victory didn't come easy for the star Silvertips netminder. The Americans continued to put pressure on Wolf throughout the game, outshooting Everett 30-21.
Tri-City found themselves in a difficult position halfway through the first period when defenseman Andrej Golian, a CHL Import Draft pick from Slovakia, received a major penalty for checking to the head. Just over two minutes into the five minute power play, Jacob Wright opened scoring for the Silvertips.
Ben Hemmerling and Cole Fonstad went on to each net even-strength goals for the Silvertips in the second period to secure their 3-0 victory. Nine different Everett players finished the night with one point.
Veteran goaltender Talyn Boyko played the full game in net for the Americans. He stopped 18 of 21 shots faced.
Score: 3-0 EVT
Shots: 30-21 TC
Tri-City will return home and take on the Spokane Chiefs this Saturday. Puck drop is 6:05 p.m. PDT. At this time, there are no tickets publicly available. We will update fans via our website and social media if tickets are available in the future.
