Silvertips Rally Over Prince George, 6-3

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips finished out the first half of the season Saturday night with a 4-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars. Shane Harper netted two goals on the night bringing his season totals to 13 goals and 17 assists. Kyle Beach earned the night's first star with three assists giving him 27 points on the year (7G, 20A). Shayne Barrie made 23 saves in the win improving his record to 8-8-3-0.

This brings the ‘Tips record to 15-13-5-0 with 35 points in 33 games played standing eight points behind second place Spokane Chiefs in the U.S. Division. The Silvertips are now 3-5-2-0 in their last 10 games. The Silvertips will now get a two week break for the holidays before returning to Comcast Arena on Friday December 27th at 7:05 to take on the Chilliwack Bruins!

Everett wasted no time scoring on their last game before the holiday break. Taking advantage of their first power play of the night Shane Harper scored his 12th goal of the year on the power play, after an amazing cross zone pass from Kyle Beach Harper fired a hard one-timer past Kevin Armstrong to give Everett the early 1-0 lead. Armstrong made several huge saves in the first to keep the game close, including a huge glove save on Chris De la Lande and a diving stick save on Dale Hunt.

Armstrong continued his great play in the beginning of the second period making another point blank save. Kellan Tochkin was the victim this time as Armstrong made a great split-legged save on the doorstep to keep Everett's lead to only one. Prince George would feed off of Armstrong's play and score their first goal of the night at 7:09. Brian Matte put home a one-timer past Barrie after a Tyler Halliday backhand pass beat two Everett defenseman to make the score even at one a piece. Everett would outshoot Prince George in the second period 12-5.

Prince George started off the third period taking their first lead of the night when Alex Poulter scored Prince George's second goal of the night at 7:26 to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead. The Silvertips would not sit back as just 12 seconds later Ryan White netted his third goal on the year to again tie the score up, this time at two. Everett's power play would strike for the second time this game when Daniel Bartek scored the eventual game winning goal after a Beach wrap around rebounded in front for a open net at 9:28 of the third. Harper would put away the game at 19:54 with his second goal of the night, an empty net goal, to give Everett the 4-2 victory.
