
Silvertips Make History With 14th Consecutive Win

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips made history Saturday night defeating the Kamloops Blazers, 2-1. Everett set a franchise record with 14 consecutive wins beating the previous best of 13 set in the '06-'07 season. The Silvertips have a perfect 14-0 record in 2010, including a perfect record for the month of January. First star of the night Shane Harper has goals in six consecutive games tying a franchise record set by Byron Froese earlier this month. Zack Dailey with two assists Saturday night extends his point streak to four games including two goals and five assists. Thomas Heemskerk stopped 19 of 20 shots faced to earn his 17th win of the year including wins in seven consecutive starts.
Harper got the scoring started for Everett Saturday night with his team leading 33rd goal of the season at 4:03 of the first period. Langkow left the puck behind the net for Harper before he skated to the slot and beat Kamloops goaltender Jon Groenheyde top shelf, glove side for a 1-0 âTips lead. Langkow added to Everett's lead at 10:45 for his 17th of the year. Radko Gudas fired a shot from the point that was blocked in front before Langkow grabbed the loose puck and put in Everett's second goal of the night.
Kamloops scored their first goal of the night at 2:06 of the second period. Brendan Ranford collected the puck in the slot after his shot was blocked before beating Heemskerk for his 22nd of the season. Everett controlled the lead in shots 24-11 after two periods of play.
The Silvertips stopped all third period scoring chances by Kamloops to earn their 33rd win of the season.
This brings the âTips record to 33-16-2-1 with 69 points in 52 games played. The Silvertips head out for a two game road trip starting in Spokane this Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Everett then heads to Vancouver to take on the Giants this Friday at 7:30 pm.
The Silvertips continue the 2009-2010 season at Comcast Arena on Saturday, February 6th taking on the Spokane Chiefs at 7:05 pm.
