The Lowdown
This is the seventh of eight showdowns in the best rivalry in all of junior hockey as the Pats host the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Tribe have won 5 of the 6 previous meetings, taking the "Mayor's Cup", which is given to the winner of the annual series between the two teams. Their last meeting came last night with the Pats winning their first game of the season over the Warriors. The Pats had a 2-1 lead after an outstanding first that saw the blue and white outshoot the Warriors 31-9. Moose Jaw tied the game with 4 minutes left in the third on a goal by Jason Bast, only to see Carter Ashton notch the winner with 1:34 left in the game
About the Warriors:
This is a Warrior team with a young, but solid defensive core that relies on a group of forward that skate well and are lead by 20 year old forward Jason Bast. He is the last remaining player from the Warrior team that won the Eastern Conference title in 2006.
Who's who: The Warriors are on a four game losing streak, but still hold down the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race:
Player: GP G A Pts.
Quinton Howden 49 21 31 52
Brendan Rowinski 50 26 24 50
Jason Bast 38 24 24 48
Jordan Eberle is currently third in league scoring, while Jordan Weal is 4th

It's "Clash" Weekend: Tonight is the culmination of the Trans Canada Clash weekend. The Pats Alumni took on the Warriors Alumni earlier this afternoon at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre. There will be the Trans-Canada Bash tonight at the Heritage Inn in Moose Jaw
On the ice tonight: There are 8 other games in the WHL tonight with 3 other all Eastern Conference match-ups that have huge playoff implications. Saskatoon is in Swift Current, Prince Albert visits Lethbridge and Red Deer hosts Edmonton.
"Monday Night" Hockey?:
The Pats will return to the Brandt Centre on Monday night, as the hottest team in the WHL, the Kootenay Ice will pay a visit, it's a 7pm puck drop. It's a make-up game for the postponed game this past Sunday because of poor weather and driving conditions. The action will begin at 7:05 with the pre-game show on 620 CKRM, puck drops at 7:30
They are all big games: With the Pats in full chase mode in the Eastern Conference playoff race, every game is important from here on in. Here's how the rest of the schedule breaks down: 21 games (10 home/11 away), 19 v/ Eastern Conference, 13 East Division, 2 B.C. Division. So far in the month of January, the Pats have started to slowly turn things around with a 7-1-0-1 mark.
All the fun is on Tuesday: The Pats will host the Red Deer Rebels in a crucial Eastern Conference match-up, but it will be a festival atmosphere. It's Waste Management night, so bring a non-perishable food item to the game that can be donated to the Regina Food Bank. Jordan Eberle will also be signing autographs after the game is over. You can purchase a glossy picture for $5 for Jordan to sign, courtesy of Konica-Minolta with all of the proceeds going to the WHL's Haiti Relief Fund.
