Everett Silvertips News Release
Everett, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips fell just short of victory against the Chilliwack Bruins 3-2 on Friday night, January 4th, at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center. Dan Gendur followed up his hat-trick from Monday night with another pair of points including his 13th goal of the season. With the loss though, Everett's record drops to 20-19-0-2 (42 pts.) keeping them third place in the U.S. Division. They are also now tied with Chilliwack for fifth in the Western Conference.
The first period was played out with an emphasis on special teams as a total of six power plays were handed out, but just one in favor of the Silvertips. The Bruins put together a pair of goals while on the man advantage to take a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission. First, Jeff Einhorn scored through a screen from the right point at 7:09, and then Mark Santorelli scored at 14:57 early into a 5-on-3 situation.
Everett though would have a reversal of fortunes in the middle 20-minutes with four power plays of their own. It was on the second of those that Clayton Bauer deflected a Dan Gendur point shot past Chilliwack goaltender Matt Esposito at 9:58. The home team couldn't quite convert on the following two advantages but they were able to build some momentum heading into the final period.
However, that slight edge would be momentarily interrupted on an early Nick Holden power play goal at the 1:49 mark. But it was a quick 2-minute, 54-second response by Gendur at 4:13 that gave back the Silvertips their added spark. Try as they might though, Esposito wouldn't let anything else behind him.
The Silvertips return to the road for their next two games to complete this three-in-three weekend. Tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. they will be in Portland to take on the Winter Hawks at Memorial Coliseum before heading to Kennewick on Sunday. That evening's game against the Tri-City Americans is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. at the Toyota Center.
