Silvertips Battle Winter Hawks, T-Birds and Bruins

The Everett Silvertips picked up five out of a possible six points last weekend against the Vancouver Giants and the Tri-City Americans. The Silvertips defeated the Giants 4-2 at the Everett Events Center last Friday night and picked up a 6-5 (SO) win over Vancouver on Sunday in Vancouver, BC. On Saturday night the Tri-City Americans defeated the Silvertips 3-2 (SO) in a shootout to spoil the perfect weekend for the Tips. Currently the Silvertips are in first place in the US Division with a 36-7-0-2 (74 points) record.

The Silvertips will play four games in five nights this week against the Portland Winter Hawks, Seattle Thunderbirds and the Chilliwack Bruins. On Wednesday, January 24, the Silvertips will take on the Portland Winter Hawks at the Everett Events Center. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Everett will hit the road on Friday night to battle the Winter Hawks once again in Portland, OR at 7:35 p.m. The Silvertips will face off against their I-5 rival, Seattle Thunderbirds at Key Arena in Seattle on Saturday night. SILVERTIPS LEADING SCORERS

The Silvertips are led in scoring by Zach Hamill (17 goals, 38 assists) with 55 points. Peter Mueller (11 goals, 41 assists) is 2nd on the hockey club in scoring with 52 points. Kyle Beach (21 goals, 19 assists) is 3rd on the team in scoring with 40 points. Mueller currently leads the Silvertips in assists (41) while Moises Gutierrez (26 goals, 13 assists) leads the team in goals scored (26). Silvertips forward Kyle Beach leads the hockey club in +/- with a +14. In goal, Leland Irving has posted 21 wins, 1.72 GAA, 93.4% SP and 6 Shutouts. David Reekie is currently 15-3 with the Silvertips and has posted a 1.43 GAA, 93.6% SP and 3 shutouts with Everett this season.

EVERETT SILVERTIPS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS

Silvertips forward Zach Hamill (17 goals, 38 assists) is 7th in the WHL in scoring with 55 points. Peter Mueller (11 goals, 41 assists) is currently tied for 9th in the WHL in scoring with 52 points. Mueller is also tied for 2nd in the WHL in assists (41). First year forward Kyle Beach (21 goals, 19 assists) is 6th in the WHL in rookie scoring with 40 points and is the leading scorer among all 16 year olds in the WHL. Defenseman Jason Fransoo (7 goals, 24 assists) is tied for 10th among all WHL defensemen in scoring with 31 points. Defenseman Jesse Zetariuk (6 goals, 19 assists) is tied for 14th in defensemen scoring with 25 points. In goal, Leland Irving is leading all WHL netminders in GAA (1.72), SP (93.4%), tied for 2nd in Shutouts (6) and 4th in Wins (21). David Reekie is currently 2nd in the WHL in GAA (1.76) and 2nd in SP (92.2%).

SPECIALITY TEAMS

The Silvertips are currently 1st in the WHL on the power play (79 for 367, 21.5%) and tied for 1st in the WHL on the penalty kill (299 of 331, 90.3%).

SILVERTIPS HOME AND ROAD RECORDS

The Silvertips are 20-1-0-1 at the Everett Events Center this season and 16-6-0-1 on the road.

The Silvertips are 24-10-2 (SOL)-4 (Ties) all time against the Winter Hawks. Everett is 12-6-1 (SOL)-1 (Tie) all time against Portland at the Everett Events Center and 12-4-1 (SOL)-3 (Ties) all time against the Hawks in Portland, OR. VERSUS THE SEATTLE THUNDERBIRDS

Saturday night will be the eighth of ten meetings between the two I-5 rivals. The Silvertips are 5-2 against the T-Birds this season and 1-2 against the T-Birds at Key Arena. The Silvertips are 18-16-1 (SOL)-4 (Ties) all time against the Thunderbirds in franchise history and 3-13-3 (Ties) all time against Seattle at Key Arena. Future Meetings: January 27: @ Seattle. VERSUS THE CHILLIWACK BRUINS

Sunday will be the fourth meeting of six between the Tips and the Bruins. The Silvertips are 3-0 against Chilliwack this season and 1-0 against the Bruins at the Everett Events Center. Future Meetings: January 28: @ Everett, February 3: @ Everett, February 18: @ Chilliwack.
