January 4, 2020 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips, two-time Western Conference champions and seven time U.S. Division champions of the Western Hockey League, have acquired a fourth round selection in the 2020 WHL Draft from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for goaltender Keegan Karki, Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson announced today.
"Keegan Karki provided us with results we needed when it came to utilizing our goaltending depth at critical junctures of the schedule," said Davidson. "This transaction gives him a new opportunity in Prince Albert and we thank him for his efforts as a Silvertip goaltender this season."
Karki, a 2000-born goaltender, is 8-1-1-1 this season in 14 games with the Silvertips, along with a 3.19 goals-against-average and .897 save percentage. He was previously the fifth ranked goaltender in North America by NHL Central Scouting for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and was a participant at last year's NHL Draft Combine in Buffalo.
The native of Sartell, Minn. was originally listed by the Silvertips and signed to a WHL standard player agreement on May 16, 2019.
The 6-foot-5, 208-pound goaltender previously spent 59 career games in the USHL with USA Hockey National Team Development Program and the Muskegon Lumberjacks, and in 2017-18 went 24-16 with a 3.20 goals-against-average and two shutouts with Muskegon. He was sixth in the league for games played (41), tied for second in wins (24), and started 19 consecutive games. Last season, Karki also added three games with Corpus Christi (NAHL), registering a .889 save percentage and 3.06 goals-against-average.
The Silvertips roster currently carries two goaltenders, Dustin Wolf and Braden Holt.
