Kastelic Lifts Hitmen in OT

Lethbridge, AB - Ottawa Senators prospect Mark Kastelic scored 18 seconds into overtime to propel the Calgary Hitmen past the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1 on Saturday night at ENMAX Centre.

The victory for Calgary was the first for a road team in the season series in four games.

Orca Wiesblatt also scored for the visitors, netting the tying goal on a first period power play after Justin Hall opened the scoring for Lethbridge.

Both goaltenders were named stars in the game with Carl Tetachuk making 33 saves for the 'Canes and Brayden Peters 27 stops for Calgary.

Special teams also factored in for Calgary which went 1-2 on the power play and killed all five shorthanded situations including a 5-on-3 for 1:25 to start the third period.

The Hitmen are back at Scotiabank Saddledome to complete the weekend, tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 5 against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Game sponsor is Hilton with a 4:00 p.m. puck drop for Sunday Funday presented by Ricky's All Day Grill featuring face painters, concourse activities, giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday pricing sees a $9.99 ticket for kids 12 and under and a $15.99 ticket for adults (plus applicable fees and taxes).

Fans are asked to bring hats, toques, scarves, mitts, gloves, socks and new underwear to the game to support the Calgary Heritage Lions Club Toasty Toes Sock Collection Program. A donation bin will be set up on the concourse behind Section 214. All items will be shared by the Calgary Drop-In Centre, Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter, and Inn from the Cold.
