Silverbacks home opener brings community together

Buffalo, Nov 8th--- The Buffalo Silverbacks home opener salute to Mayor Brown, presented by Creditors Interchange, entertained a packed Buffalo State College Arena Wednesday night. Spectators watched a defensive, hard fouling game that was heart pounding to the very end. Explosive scoring due to the ABA's unique 3-D rule created offensive runs that made for a night of action packed entertainment. Fun was had by fans of all ages with people dancing in the isles and at center court with the WBLK Divas.

At half time, Creditors Interchange presented Mayor Byron Brown with a special bronze Buffalo in thanks for his exemplary performance during the October storm.

The Silverbacks showed flashes of greatness, but were unable to close the door on the Detroit Panthers with a final score of 109-100. Buffalo made a run late in the fourth quarter to bring the crowd their feet, but was unable to pull out the victory. The crowd was up and down as were the Silverbacks who were up 46 to 39 at the half and then Detroit managed a 15-5 run in the second half to pull out with the win.

Antoine Sims scored 33 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals in a strong effort which was supported by Modie Cox's 13 points and 4 assists. Both Marlin Johnson and Kevin Ross both pulled down 6 rebounds a piece.

Detroit was lead by Katu Davis with 38 points, Willie Wallis with 13 rebounds and Brian Woodland with 9 assists.

The next home game will be November 24th at 8pm against the defending ABA Champions, the Rochester Razorsharks.
