Knoxville Noise News Release

The Knoxville Noise has added some size to their already formidable frontcourt in the form of 6'8 power forwards Alex Adediran and Toby Smith. Adediran and Smith both figure to be prominent figures in the paint for the Noise during the 2006-2007 seasons.

Alex Adediran played his college ball at Binghampton University after transferring there from Seward Community College in Kansas. A consistent scorer and rebounder, Alex averaged 8 points and 5.2 rebounds during his junior year with the Saints while only averaged 19.5 minutes a game, which was the best ratio on the team. After his playing days concluded at Binghampton, Alex played for the Atlanta Vision of the ABA in 2005-2006. Afterwards, Alex moved on to the ANBL and played a season for the Georgia Gwizzlies, where he earned "Mr. Offense" honors for the team. Coach Oliver, who affectionately calls Alex "The Bear," has this to say about his new power forward: "He is a beast on the weak side rebound and will make our front court even stronger. If he can get his hand on the ball no one will take it from him."

Toby Smith is another 6'8 power forward who has a knack for putting the ball through the hoop. A tenacious scorer and rebounder, Toby played his college ball at Connors State Junior College in Oklahoma and was on his way to Tulsa before suffering a knee injury. After recovering from the injury, Toby played with numerous teams in the CBA and ABA, the last of which was the Chattanooga Steamers in 2005. Later that year, the Cleveland Magic acquired Toby as a late-season pickup in preparation of the playoffs. In the first round of the WBA playoffs against the eventual champion Rome Gladiators, Toby scored 26 points in a hard fought loss. It was in Cleveland, however, where he met Noise owner Gavin Raiteri. Coach Oliver is excited about having Toby in the paint for the Noise this season: "Toby is a great scorer from 15ft and in. On the basket he is a real offensive threat for the Noise."

You can catch Alex and Toby in action when the Knoxville Noise take the court for their home opener on Saturday, November 11th against the Tennessee Mud Frogs. For more information visit the Noise website at www.knoxvillenoise.com.
