Newark, NJ - November 8th, 2006 - After a knock down drag out fight against the Richmond Ballers, The Newark Express win 103-94 in double over-time. In a fight for the first win of the season, both teams battled feverishly for the title, and it took two over-time periods to decide it. The Newark Express was victorious against a formidable Richmond team.

Zakee Boyd led the Express in scoring with 22 points, (shooting 42% from the 3 point line), and newly acquired point guard Tayquan Goode added 18 points and 10 assists. The Express received a tremendous lift from Sekani Francis, 13pts, 8 rebounds and Dwayne Howell, who chipped in 13 points and a game high 13 rebounds.

Richmond's attack was relentless, under the leadership of Tyreke Wallace (28 pts), Jermaine Bell (15pts, 11reb) and Sean Harris (17pts). But the back- court combo of Boyd, Goode and Thorpe and the Express style defensive pressure, and high-octane offense was the difference in this exciting, nail biting game. With the Express trailing by 3 with less than 7 seconds to play in regulation, Goode's 3-point buzzer beater sends the game into over-time.

Both teams played hard in OT, exchanging baskets, till the buzzer sounded to end the 1st over-time. The game was tied 92-92. Fatigue and exhaustion overwhelmed both teams as they watched the scoreboard clear to 0-0. and heard the officials say, "First team to 10 wins! The only clock is the 24-second shot clock! 2 fouls and you're out! Let's jump it!" The Express got off to a fast start, with Elijah Thorpe knocking down the first jumper to start the final over-time period. Boyd followed with a 3 pointer, that made the score 5-0. Goode then took over by running a series of pick and rolls with Howell that resulted in a couple of monstrous dunks and a final score of 103-94.
