Buffalo Silverbacks News Release

In a letter to the ABA Buffalo Silverbacks, Nyeema Quinniey, Assistant Executive Director of the Delavan-Grider Community Center wrote:

"I am writing to thank the "Do Your Best, Never Quit" Community Youth Initiative and their sponsor LHR for their contribution to the Delavan-Grider Community Center After-School Enrichment Program. The message which you presented to the 30+ youth was phenomenal and always needed.

Your message on respect, dedication, scholastic achievement and maintaining a positive attitude was encouraging for the children. It is extremely important for the youth to meet professionals who come from the same communities they come from. Your showcase presented a reality that dreams can come true if they do their best and never quit."

"Do Your Best, Never Quit" Mission: To instill a life philosophy that promotes self esteem in children

The initiative's purpose is to teach children a life philosophy that fosters self esteem and inner peace by focusing on the "input" to a particular task or objective (effort) rather than the end result (win, grade, etc.). In adopting this thought process a strong "I can do it" confidence develops - "it" being controlled by the individual and defined as his/her best efforts, allowing the results to be accepted with inner peace.
