Be There When the Banners Go Up

Vermont Frost Heaves News Release


South Burlington, Vt.-The Vermont Frost Heaves, fresh off a 98-82 victory in their opening game in Montreal, continue the defense of their ABA title this week with home openers in Barre and Burlington.

Vermont Governor Jim Douglas will be on hand at the Barre Municipal Auditorium on Thursday night, Nov. 15, for festivities prior to a rematch with the Royal. The ceremony will include the unveiling of a championship banner and the distribution of rings.

Dana Martin, a founding Frost Heave from Stowe, Vt., who now works in New York City, will serve as the Northfield Savings Bank Community All-Star after receiving his championship ring.

The celebration will start at 6:15 p.m., with tip-off set for 7:05. The Times-Argus is presenting sponsor of Opening Night.

At 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Burlington's Memorial Auditorium, Vermont will unveil a second banner before taking on the expansion Halifax Rainmen. It will be Fletcher Allen Health Care Day, with a special Northfield Savings Bank Community All-Star on tap.

"One of the great things about playing in two venues is that we can raise two banners-and give twice as many people a chance to celebrate what we accomplished last season," said Frost Heaves founder Alexander Wolff. "We're proud to have brought Vermont its first national title in a pro team sport and have high hopes for Year Two."
