SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Silver Hawks (31-19) scored nine unanswered runs en route to defeating the Lansing Lugnuts (24-26), 9-2, on Monday afternoon at Four Winds Field.

After Lansing grabbed an early 2-0 lead, the Silver Hawks scored in each of the last five innings to pull away and take the second contest in the three-game set.

South Bend pulled ahead with two runs in the fifth against starting pitcher Chase De Jong (Loss, 0-2) with a run-scoring single by Marty Herum and a sacrifice fly by Jamie Westbrook.

The Lugnuts opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI triple by third baseman Mitch Nay, and designated hitter Jorge Saez followed with a sacrifice fly to put Lansing ahead 2-0.

South Bend starter Braden Shipley (Win, 4-2), the #2 prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks' organization, recovered to pitch six innings, allowing just the two runs on seven hits and five strikeouts.

The Silver Hawks added four more runs in the sixth inning against Lansing reliever Alonzo Gonzalez.
