Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH)- Delvis Morales singled home Brandon Trinkwon in the top of the seventh inning and the Great Lakes Loons beat the Lake County Captains 1-0. The RBI by Morales was the only run of the ballgame. Great Lakes (25-26) had a total of four hits on the day. The Loons clinched the three game series with their second straight win. Lake County has now been shutout eight times this season.
Lake County (17-34) had just four hits in the ballgame. Paul Hendrix had two hits. Claudio Bautista doubled to extend his hitting streak to a team high ten straight games. Dorssys Paulino also singled for the Captains, but that was all the offense the Captains could muster on Monday.
RHP Robbie Aviles (1-1) started for Lake County and did not get a decision. Aviles pitched six shutout innings and allowed just two hits and two walks. Aviles struck out a pair. Robbie's earned run average now stands at a skinny 1.45. Alexis Paredes (1-1) took the loss. Paredes pitched two innings and allowed one earned run on two hits, two walks and he fanned one. Paredes also hit one batter. Trevor Frank pitched a one-two-three ninth inning for Lake County.
RHP Victor Arano (2-2) started for Great Lakes and did not earn a decision. Arano went five shutout innings and yielded three hits and one walk. Arano struck out three. The win went to Greg Harris (4-4). Harris pitched three hitless and scoreless innings. Harris walked just one and fanned two. Mark Pope picked up his second save in as many games, and his sixth overall on the season.
The Captains will remain home in Eastlake, OH on Monday to continue a six-game home stand. The Great Lakes Loons are in town for the finale of a three game set. The Captains will start RHP Dace Kime (0-7, 7.08) and the Loons will counter with RHP Jonathan Martinez (4-5, 3.74). First Pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM from Classic Park.
