Shrimp Fall to Lookouts 4-1

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (24-38, 52-78) fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts (27-34, 63-68) by a 4-1 score in the fourth game of the five-game series at AT&T Field on Monday night.

Chattanooga right-handed relief pitcher Omar Bencomo (8-6) earned the win by working five scoreless innings from the third to the seventh, allowing five hits with no walks and four strikeouts against his former club. Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Dustin Beggs (1-1) took the loss, going six innings where he allowed two runs (both earned) on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts. Cody Stashak got the final two outs for Lookouts to earn his fourth save of the year.

For the third straight game, Andy Wilkins homered for Chattanooga, and his solo blast to right field started the scoring for the Lookouts in the bottom of the second. Chattanooga added a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Jimmy Kerrigan to put the lead at 2-0.

The Lookouts added two more runs in the seventh off Jacksonville left-handed relief pitcher Jeff Kinley. First Brent Rooker hit an RBI double to put the lead at 3-0, then during the at-bat of Wilkins, a Kinley wild pitch scored Rooker from third to put the lead at 4-0.

After being held scoreless for the first eight innings, Jacksonville started the ninth with a pair of doubles, as Bryson Brigman got the Shrimp on the board with an RBI double to make it 4-1, which would be the final.

Anfernee Seymour extended his season-best hitting streak with Jacksonville to five games, going 2-for-3 and he and Brigman were the only Shrimp batters with a multi-hit game.

The Jumbo Shrimp and Lookouts will finish their series with the fifth and final contest of the five-game set on Tuesday night at AT&T Field at 7:15 p.m. eastern. Right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet (2-11, 5.42 ERA) will start for Jacksonville against Chattanooga right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen (5-6, 3.55 ERA). Fans can listen to Tuesday's game on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 7 p.m. eastern with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, andwww.jaxshrimp.com.

Jacksonville returns home Thursday, Aug. 30, for the season's final series with the Mississippi Braves, beginning with a doubleheader at 5:05 p.m. on Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, when fans can purchase $1 12-oz. and $2 24-oz. beers adjacent to the Budweiser Tiki Terrace, the right-field concourse, and the Oasis concession stand behind section 115. $1 small sodas are sold at the concession stands. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. for Football Night in Jax, when fans can enter to win tickets to many different football games in the southeast. Jacksonville University Night will include alumni and students celebrating the start of another year at Jacksonville University. The game is also presented by Cox Media.
