BayBears Shut out by Pensacola to Force Rubber Game Tuesday

PENSACOLA, Fla. - After a 1-0 win Sunday, the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were shut out 2-0 by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Monday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Matt Ball (1-2) gave up a two-run single to Shed Long with two outs in the first inning, the only runs allowed in the game. After a five-inning start for Ball, Jeremy Beasley tossed three scoreless frames of relief.

Daniel Wright (7-10) worked out of trouble with runners in scoring position in three of the first six innings, holding the BayBears scoreless. Jesus Reyes, Alejandro Chacin, and Alex Powers finished the game, each pitching a scoreless inning of relief.

Riley Unroe's Southern League hit streak increased to 12 games with a single in the top of the sixth. Mitch Spires also had his second straight two-hit game.

Mobile went just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

The BayBears wrap up the five-game road series against Pensacola Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Southpaw Patrick Sandoval (1-0, 1.69 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Wyatt Strahan (7-11, 6.45 ERA) for the Blue Wahoos.
