JACKSONVILLE, Flo. - The Biscuits (37-24) saw their five-game winning streak come to an end as the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (24-38) took game two of the five-game set, 8-2, on Saturday night at the Baseball Grounds.
After both teams were held scoreless in the opening inning, the Jumbo Shrimp would strike first. After an error by Biscuits shortstop Tristan Gray, J.C. Millan hit a wall-ball RBI-double off starter Riley O'Brien (2-4) to make it a 1-0 game. Jacksonville wasn't done though, scoring the second run of the inning on an O'Brien wild pitch, and then the third on a John Silviano sac fly to cap off a three-run second.
Jesus Sanchez would pull one back for the Biscuits in the top of the fourth, hammering an opposite-field solo home run over the left field wall off Jumbo Shrimp starter Jorge Guzman (2-6) to make it a 3-1 game.
In the sixth, the Biscuits would make it a one-run contest thanks to a sac fly by Kevin Padlo before heavy rains delayed the game an hour and 12 minutes. After the delay, Blake Bivens entered for O'Brien, and after working a scoreless sixth, served up a three-run home run to Jacksonville's catcher and number nine hitter Santiago Chavez that put the game away. Millan added a two-run shot in the eighth, also off Bivens.
The Biscuits will try to bounce back on Sunday afternoon when All-Star Sam McWilliams does battle (4-2) with All-Star Cody Poteet (3-3) at 2:05 PM CT.
The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium for their final series of the first half in a crucial showdown against the third-place Chattanooga Lookouts on Military Wednesday, June 12. The rest of the series will feature Game Show Night and a T-Shirt Giveaway on Thursday, June 13; Capital City Night on Friday, June 14; Montgomery Rebels Throwback Night featuring a Jersey Auction on Saturday, June 15 (a doubleheader); and A Father's Day Tie Giveaway on Sunday, June 16.
