Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Santiago Chavez and J.C. Millan each homered on Saturday as the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp upended the Montgomery Biscuits 6-2 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. A crowd of 6,451 enjoyed a Jumbo Shrimp hat giveaway and Saturday Night Fireworks, both presented by 121 Financial and RJ Young.
In a scoreless game, Montgomery (37-24) starter Riley O'Brien (2-4) walked Joe Dunand to begin the second. After an error, Millan doubled in Dunand for the game's first run. Bryson Brigman drew another free pass before a wild pitch scored Stone Garrett. John Silviano's sacrifice fly then made it 3-0 Jacksonville (24-38).
The Biscuits finally got on the board in the fourth inning on a Jesus Sanchez homer off Jumbo Shrimp starter Jorge Guzman (2-6). A Kevin Padlo sacrifice fly in the sixth sliced the Jacksonville lead to 3-2.
The Jumbo Shrimp started the seventh with a base hit by Brigman and double from Silviano. Chavez then smashed a three-run shot to widen the advantage to 6-2. Millan's two-run bomb in the eighth extended the margin to 8-2.
Guzman earned the win with two runs on four hits in 5.2 innings. Kolton Mahoney earned his first save with 3.1 scoreless frames, ceding just two hits while striking out four.
Saturday's winning raffle number of 1931911026 won a prize of $298.
