Showcase Preview
December 21, 2021 - NBA G League (G League)
Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
The Skyforce comes into the 2021 NBA G League Winter Showcase after a 12-day break of games and will play two Western Conference foes in the Stockton Kings (11:00 PM CST on Tuesday) and the Austin Spurs (10:00 PM CST on Wednesday).
The Skyforce are coming off a 103-98 loss to Motor City on December 8 and did not play the series with Windy City on December 11-12 in accordance with the league's Health and Safety Protocols.
Sioux Falls will look to spread the ball like they did against the Cruise, as six Force players scored in double figures. It marked the second time this season they have had six-plus in double figures, as well. Five players also had three-plus assists in the contest.
The Skyforce will also need contribution from the bench, as Mike Smith tied a career-high with 17 points, four assists and three rebounds to lead against the Cruise. Jay Henderson posted a career-high 12 points on 4-4 3PA, while Martin Krampelj (11 points on 3-5 FGA) posted his fourth-of-five games scoring in double figures, as well.
They will also look to shoot the deep ball as consistent as they did, posting a season high 42.4% (14-33 3PA) against Motor City. Four players made two-plus three pointers in the contest.
This marks the first game between Sioux Falls and Stockton since Jan 5, 2020, where the Skyforce handed the Kings a 129-115 defeat behind 34 points from Mychal Mulder. It marked the last game for Miami HEAT guard and then Stockton Kings player Gabe Vincent before earning a two-way with the Skyforce days later.
Stockton started off hot in the Showcase Cup, going 5-1 in its first six games. However, they have lost their four contests. The Kings come into the contest ranked third in the G League in steals, with 10.8 per game.
The Kings are well balanced on offense, as six players average 10-plus points per game, with Louis King leading with 18.3 points on 43.3% shooting. All six players have played in six-plus games this season.
