Shorebirds Win Game One, Game 2 Postponed and Rescheduled

The Delmarva Shorebirds evened the series with the Lynchburg Hillcats after winning Thursday afternoon, 5-2.
Game two of the doubleheader was postponed due to poor field conditions. A second doubleheader is now scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. with game two to follow.
Lynchburg would score first in game one on an Angel Genao single with two outs that scored Jaison Chourio. Delmarva would score in each of the next two innings to take the lead at 2-1.
The Hillcats would tie the game up in the bottom of the third inning as Chourio would pick up an RBI with a single of his own. However, home runs from the Shorebirds in the fourth and the fifth would put the game out of reach for the Hillcats.
In the final inning, a spot shower dumped on Bank of the James Stadium, tarnishing the field conditions for game two. Front office members of the Hillcats and representatives from both ball clubs attempted to get the tarp on the field, but the rain was too heavy to cover the field in time.
Tickets from Thursday night's game can be exchanged for any other game this season, apart from July 4th.
The Hillcats and Shorebirds will battle again on Friday in a doubleheader with first pitch scheduled at 3 p.m. Tickets for Friday night's originally scheduled game can be used for tickets to both games of the doubleheader. Tickets are available at Lynchburg-hillcats.com.
