Shorebirds Rout Lakewood, 13-1

Lakewood, NJ - The Delmarva Shorebirds dominated the Lakewood BlueClaws to a 13-1 victory on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park. Delmarva (32-22) posted their most runs of any game of the season, with two five-run frames in the second and fourth innings.
Lakewood got out to an early lead off Delmarva starter Hunter Harvey. The BlueClaws manufactured a run without a base hit in the first inning. After a leadoff walk, Carlos Tocci stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error by Chance Sisco. Tocci scored on an RBI groundout by J.P. Crawford.
The 1-0 lead evaporated when the Shorebirds pounded BlueClaws' starter Ranfi Casimiro in the second inning. Drew Dosch lifted a sacrifice fly to give Delmarva a 2-1 lead. Later, Trey Mancini smashed his first home run of the year, a three-run shot to make it 5-1.
Delmarva scored five more runs in the fourth inning. Casimiro walked the first two batters to spark another big rally. Mancini slammed a RBI single, running Casimiro out of the game. Jesen Therrien did not fare better in relief, surrendering a two-run double to Gregory Lorenzo and a two-run triple to Anthony Vega.
Hunter Harvey cruised with the comfortable lead. The Shorebirds' starter allowed one unearned run on two hits through six innings. Harvey also struck out seven batters, now second in the league with 64 strikeouts. David Richardson picked up a nine-out save, his first of the season.
The Shorebirds continued the blowout with two runs in the eighth and another tally in the ninth. The 13 runs scored by the offense were the most in a single game this season. With the 12-run margin of victory, it was the most lopsided win of the year.
Delmarva and Lakewood will continue their series with game three on Saturday. Left-hander Mitch Horacek (2-5, 2.94) will start for the Shorebirds against BlueClaws' righty Tyler Viza (2-5, 3.88). First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 pm at FirstEnergy Park.
