(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Frank Schwindel continued his hot hitting with two home runs and five runs batted in as the Lexington Legends took an 8-3 win over the Augusta GreenJackets in front of 5,370 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Friday night.

An RBI single by Mauricio Ramos put the Legends in front 1-0 in the first, and Schwindel's two-run homer in the second made the score 3-0.

With one out in the fourth, Dex Kjerstad doubled and went to third on a single by Alfredo Escalera. Ramon Torres' bunt was fielded by catcher Eric Sim, who tagged Kjerstad out as he tried to score. Schwindel followed with his second home run of the game, a three-run shot that put the Legends in front 6-0. Schwindel had a home run and six RBI in the Legends 15-7 win at Asheville Wednesday. He has 10 hits in his last 21 at bats and has driven in 17 runs in his last 10 games.

The Legends added two runs in the fifth. Fred Ford reached second when third baseman Ryder Jones bobbled Ford's grounder and then threw past first for a second error on the play. After Chad Johnson popped out, Humberto Arteaga singled. Ford went to third, and Arteaga took second on the throw from the outfield. Dominique Taylor was intentionally walked, loading the bases. A wild pitch allowed Ford to score, and when Sim's throw to pitcher Jake Smith at home plate bounced away for an error, Arteaga also scored on the play, giving Lexington an 8-0 lead.

The shutout lasted until the ninth, when the GreenJackets loaded the bases and Rando Moreno doubled down the right field line, scoring all three runners.

Crawford Simmons (1-1), making his first start of the year, threw five shutout innings as he earned his first win. Augusta starter Carlos Diaz (3-5) worked the first four innings and took the loss.

The Legends and GreenJackets play again Saturday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
