PREVIEW: After a nail-biting 2-1 win in the opener, the Shorebirds and Grasshoppers meet for game two of the series. Orioles first round selection Manny Machado blasted the eventual game-winning triple in the bottom of the sixth inning to score both runs. Brenden Webb drew a lead-off walk and Mychal Givens singled him to third before the Machado hit. The Shorebirds bullpen tossed five scoreless innings and held the Grasshoppers to just hit in the final five innings.

MACHADO TOP SHORTSTOP PROSPECT: In the most recent edition of Baseball America, Shorebirds shortstop Manny Machado was tabbed as the top overall shortstop prospect in professional baseball.

BULLPEN DELIVERS: Chris Petrini, Clay Schrader and David Walters combined to shutdown the Grasshoppers from the fifth inning forward. Petrini threw three scoreless innings in middle relief, Schrader threw the eighth inning and David Walters picked up his tenth career minor league save.

DOUBLE PLAY #1: The dynamic double play combo of Machado and Givens turned their first double play of the 2011 last night in the seventh inning last night. Greensboro had the lead off man aboard when Pedro Mendoza grounded to Givens who started the 4-6-3 double play.

16TH SEASON OF BASEBALL: 2011 marks the 16th season of the Delmarva Shorebirds franchise and the 15th as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds were a Montreal Expos affiliate

during the inaugural 1996 season before becoming an Orioles farm team in 1997. The Shorebirds have captured two league titles, in 1997 and 2000. The Shorebirds have compiled a franchise record of 1053-1030 since day one. In addition, club has posted winning seasons in seven of the 15 years.

RECAPPING LAST SEASON: Adleman made 13 starts for the Aberdeen Ironbirds in his first professional season. In 68.0 innings pitched, he surrendered just 52 hits. The New York-Penn League hit just .215 against him. Adleman allowed two or fewer earned runs in nine of his 13 starts last season.

DEBUT TONIGHT: Tonight marks Adleman's first start in the South Atlantic League. He is in his second season in the Orioles organization.

THE NO-NO: Adleman's best performance last season was a seven-inning gem against the Staten Island Yankees on August 2. He did not allow a single yet. The S.I. Yankees managed only one hit in the game. Adleman recorded two other shutouts on the year (June 22 against Brooklyn - 4.0 IP & July 22 against Tri-City - 5.1 IP).

NYPL ALL-STAR: Adleman was one of four players (only pitcher) on the Ironbirds roster last season to make the NYPL All-Star Team. He posted a 2-3 record with a 3.10 ERA in before the all-star break.
