SUSPENDED GAME WILL BE RESUMED AT 1:05 TODAY, REGULARLY SCHEDULED GAME WILL FOLLOW
STAT OF THE DAY: The Shorebirds pitching staff has gone 22 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run including two innings in the suspended game on Saturday. The last time the staff gave up an earned run was on April 25th in the 7th inning.
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds game against the Tourists was suspended on Saturday night in the top of the 3rd inning with no score and runners at second and third. The game will be continued today at 1:05pm. The two teams will play their regularly scheduled game 30-minutes after the completion of the suspended game. The second game today is scheduled for seven innings. The Shorebirds are in a tie for third place in the Northern Division, 2.5 games back of Greensboro.
ZACH DAVIES TO RESUME: RHP Zach Davies is scheduled to resume the suspended game today at 1:05pm. He has surrendered just one run over his last ten innings on the mound (three outings). The South Atlantic League is batting just .204 against the 19-year old.
HOMETOWN TEAM: The Shorebirds are 8-3 this season at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, which is the second best home mark in the South Atlantic League. The Greensboro Grasshoppers and Charleston Riverdogs are both 8-2 at their home parks. Both offensive and pitching numbers are significantly higher at home for Delmarva. They hit .272 at home and .257 on the road. The staff ERA at home is 1.89 and on the road it's 4.09.
11-GAME HIT STREAK: John Ruettiger has an 11-game hit streak going (18-48, .375). He extended his on-base streak to 14 games in the first inning of last night's suspended game with a walk. His 11-game hit streak is the longest active streak in the South Atlantic League.
8-GAMER FOR DELMONICO: Nicky Delmonico has an 8-game hit streak on the line (12-31, .387). During the stretch, he has produced 12 of his 15 total RBIs for the season.
DALLES BACK WITH SHOREBIRDS: Catcher Justin Dalles was added to the roster on April 27 when Mikey Planeta was transferred to Frederick. Dalles played for the Shorebirds in 2010 (48 G, .208) and 2011 (27 G, .202). He went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in his first game on April 27.
