February 20, 2021 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
REUNION, FL - Six Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, scored double-figures for the second consecutive game but an 18-point advantage by the Knicks was eventually erased by the Austin Spurs, 125-118, on Saturday evening at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.
Returning rights player, Simi Shiitu, only had one unlucky attempt going 13-for-14 on the evening. Shittu's lone off-target heave came from beyond the arc while the center hauled eight boards, raised for three rejections and had three steals.
Two-Way player, Jared Harper, credited his second consecutive double-double comprised of 19 points and 11 assists. Ignas Brazdeikis, on assignment from the New York Knicks, scored 17 points, collected nine rebounds and dished seven dimes. Affiliate player, Louis King, has now nailed four triples for three straight games-today on 57.1-percent. Affiliate player, James Young (17), and returning rights player, Tyler Hall (11) also contributed to the Knicks' point total.
For the Spurs (6-1), Anthony Mathis registered a team-high 23 points in a reserve role. Cameron Reynolds and Tre Jones chipped in with 20 points apiece. Jones also pitched in nine helpers.
The Knicks (3-4) jumped out to an 18-point lead in the second quarter and by halftime, Austin was within six, 66-60. Austin faced another nine-point deficit but managed to outscore Westchester by five ahead of the fourth quarter. The teams were separated by just one at the conclusion of the third, 91-90, with the Knicks clutching the slight lead.
Unlike the previous three segments, Westchester's attempts were hapless going just 9-for-21 from the floor and knocking in only 27.3-percent of its outside looks. The Spurs however went 14-for-24 from the field in the window and drained 50-percent of their three-point opportunities. The Knicks' 29.5-percent clip from deep for the game now sits as a season-low.
Westchester squares up against the Canton Charge on Monday, February 22 at 11:30 AM ET.
